We had an issue with our dryer and the tech came out on the service call and did the evaluation and proceeded to tell us what was needed to repair our problem. They charged us $80.00 to do the evaluation and told us that they would credit the $80.00 when they returned to repair the dryer after the parts came in. After waiting almost 2 weeks I called ASI to find out the holdup and they proceeded to tell me that they were still waiting on the parts. I asked them for the part number and told them that I had a friend who lived out of state and I might call and see if I could get the part any quicker. I called my friend and he suggested that I call an appliance parts company in Greenville. I did and found out that I could order the part myself and have in within 5-7 days. At that point, I contacted ASI to inform them of my findings and they proceeded to tell me that the part should be in within 2 days and they would call me back and give me an update. Needless to say, I received no call back but had to call back myself to produce any type of result. After leaving a message and requesting a call back, I received a call back the next day to inform me that my parts had arrived. We then scheduled an appointment to have the tech come back out and repair our dryer. The tech came out as scheduled and after looking at the dryer again, proceeded to tell us that we needed additional parts that had been overlooked in the first evaluation…really? He again told me that the parts would have to be ordered. Our dryer is less that 5 years old and I am beginning to wonder what is taking place. I felt at this moment I was being taken for a ride! After another estimate and a quick call to my appliance repair friend (who by the way, would have been called in the first place had he been in our area) I felt as though our friends at ASI were taking advantage of me and decided that it was less expensive to just buy a new dryer than to replace the one that needed repair. Now, once all was said and done, I asked for a refund on my $80.00 evaluation charge since he had obviously been mis-evaluated (or had it?) Although politely, not only was I told that I would not receive a refund, but I was told that I could take my business elsewhere. Just for kicks, the young lady that I spoke with reminded me that I went to church with one of their employees and that I could talk to him if I’d like but the results would be the same. I must be honest, I chose to call on this company because of that employee and I choose to do business with Christian people but after this little escapade, I may want to change my way of thinking. I can say this, in the future I will take a portion of this lady’s advice…I will take my business elsewhere!
My Wife, Kelly, and I have been selling appliances at The Cook's Station for over 15 yrs and over this time we have needed ASI to help us directly with a warranty service issue OR we have directed our customers to their office for out of warranty service issues. Eitherway we have always have had great success. ASI has great tech's that care about the customer and will do everything in their power to solve the issue. Their job is a very tough one and sometimes they are the folks that deliver the bad news that a product can't be fixed......and yes, sometimes a appliance will break again after right after it is fixed. With that said, ASI always handles it as professionals and they try to put the customer in a better position than before the call, even if it comes with bad news and professional advice.
The technician was courteous and polite however he could not pinpoint the problem and I paid $200 for a service that resulted in the problem occurring again one day later.
